  1. Sheesh...haven’t been here for a while.... Need to knock down some cobwebs and shoo away some little critters that have taken up residence....
  2. I started Weight Watchers online a week ago. 5 pounds down in one week! I really like the new way they are doing it. There is a list of zero point foods that is really helping to keep from feeling hungry. And...you can add some points for exercise you do.

    Yum! Looks delicious!
  4. There is a fire that started a couple of days ago that is now over 44,000 acres. The first night we went west to an open area an you could see an orange light in the distance. Very eerie. I took a picture when I was driving down a county road...not a super good one...but I could see plumes of smoke and could actually see burned areas from a long way off. We get fires in that area all the time but this is the closest I’ve ever seen it. This morning unfortunately the wind changed and now the smoke is coming our way. We had ash on our cars. Keeping the windows closed and the air on. Air quality is bad.
  5. I’m so glad you asked for a link, Midnightmom. I couldn’t figure what was going on....
  6. Hey folks! I am off for the summer. All I can say is hallelujah. As each year passes I look forward to summer more and more. I like what I do...but I’m going to be 58 next month and while the spirit is willing this body of mine is seriously having a hard time keeping up. It’s nice reading what everyone has been doing. Mt Rider, I also get my readers at the dollar store and at Michael’s of all places. Fingers crossed, I haven’t fallen in a long time, lol. Speedy recovery to everyone that can’t seem to stay vertical. This is the first summer that no one has a broken bone, getting a kidney transplant or eye surgery, or moving. I just want to relax and hang out my garden. Most of my garden is containers this year. I am already harvesting zucchini, tomatoes, peppers and strawberries. I planted a grape vine when we first moved in here and it’s really doing well but we probably won’t see anything to harvest until next year. I have raspberries but we probably won’t be seeing anything from them until next year as well. Cucumbers should be happening soon and some squash as well. Now that summers here and I have more time I may be trying for a few more things. we’ll see. I’m so glad I don’t have to deal with bobcat or bears or any major creature like that. Only issue I have is squirrels and possums....and relatively annoying neighbors. Oh well, can’t all be good. Momo, so sorry to hear about your hubby.
  7. Volcanos are pretty amazing.
  8. Hey pinetree! So what did you end up doing?
  9. Snapshotmiki I don’t see your picture...only words. (On my iPad)
  10. How did your test go?
  11. And sometimes it’s hit or miss. Our frost dates are mid February. But we just had frost two days ago.
  12. I have Netflix and I don’t see it listed.
  13. Well...I’ll admit I really like FB...although I have zero family attached to it...and have only a few friends (most are Mrs. S people). I use it as an informational source because I don’t often watch the news on tv. I “follow” certain pages because they post about stuff I just don’t have time to research anymore. Some are prepper related, some are hobby related, some are about food, etc. I see it as a continuous sort of....library online. When it comes to reviving the site I don’t know what the solution could be. We are facing a similar situation at my work. Myself and three other teachers have worked at our small public preschool for many years...there are now new aides and a new director...all of whom are younger than my own kids. It was almost awkward at first because of the big age differences...but over the past two years things are slowly working out. I kind of see it as a changing of the guard. We are passing on the history of our center (which has been around over 40 years), giving the new teachers classroom ideas and ideas on how we handled certain situations in the past because those types of situations will crop up year after year. It seems the majority of the folks who post have been around here for years. We need to figure out how to pass on the wealth of information that’s on this site. I know there are younger people out there looking for it because I see them asking questions on “prepper related “ FB pages. I have referred a few people this way and often will post the main page info on my Pinterest page so it rolls across my feed. I like the idea of the Without Warning in its own space....they have been the one thing on here that’s gotten me thinking outside the box. Also, people seem to be always looking for prepper related stories to read. I wish there was a way to make the wonderful prepper fiction more accessible.....
