Cat
**Cat pulls the Party Machine from the closet... shaking the feather duster around and over it. *Whew*! Nearly choking on the dust, she oils the appropriate places, works the dials and levers to see that they move easily, and cleans the settling dust away with the hand vacuum.**Hmmmm, what to do? What might she enjoy? What was that Dorothy said... "There's no place like home." Home? Home's the place where when you're there, there's always too much work to do, and when you're away, you worry about everything there even more. From city lights to twinkling stars... what a wondrous change. From manicures to manure... Cognac to compost... new shoes to new birth... it's been quite a ride.**Cat turns the dials, adjusts the levers, and pushes the appropriate buttons. She pulls the big lever, and the curtain rolls back...**Morning breaks across the flowering trees and touches the dancing field flowers with golden rays. Mist rises from the dewy grass. Slowly, gently, warmth creeps across the land and calls the sleepy animals to awaken. Birds shyly call out their trilling songs, anxious to start the day.Our friends gather...The guys look great in jeans and flannel. The long dresses the gals have worn make each one look like colorful flowers in the dewy sunshine. Each takes a box and heads out throughout the farm...The canopy tent is set up beside the pond, on the flat place where there's little danger of sliding sideways into the water. The tables are set with huge spring flower arrangements. The nearby campfire crackles cheerfully in the morning air, and the scent of frying bacon wafts out into the air.The tables are quickly set with delicious fruits and vegetables piled high. Platters of country ham, sausage patties, thick bacon, and a nice bowl of southern grits take the center table. Fresh eggs await the frying pan. In huge baskets, cloth covers keep country biscuits, homemade bread, and cinnamon rolls warm. There's hot oatmeal, with cold milk and sweet brown sugar beside. The workers return to wash up after chores and to welcome the guest of honor. By the time Darlene stretches and looks out her window, all of her farm chores are finished. Every animal's fed, every pen cleaned, pens tightened up and fences mended. The wood's stacked for the entire next year. All the hay's safely in the shed. Even the grass is mowed, and the garden tilled and planted. She looks more closely... each chicken, each pig, the goats, the horses, the cow, even the dogs are wearing pink tutus and sparkly tiaras.**Amazing how we got them to stay on, isn't it? Come see your huge birthday cake, come enjoy the day and the friends who love you. I wish we could be there in reality to give you a fun and relaxing day "off". I know it's not easy, and I know it can be frustrating. But somewhere along the way God brought you here, to this place, for this time, and here is *home*. (Rerun, but the feelings are the same.... made you giggle??? ) Quote Link to comment

Homesteader
Well .... she's never been a morning person and I'm sure I've got one or two pics of her zonked out with her mouth open. That's the only reason we were able to rev up the chainsaws, woodsplitters, and bucket tractors. So the story goes, one year older and one year wiser. By the time we've learned it all, it will be time for these little sheepies to head Home. :sheeple: Hope you had a great day and the kids spoiled you. Now you can get back to your daily chores.
