Dallas Health Care Worker tests positive for Ebola.

http://www.foxnews.com/health/2014/10/12/health-care-worker-at-dallas-hospital-tests-positive-for-ebola/

Per hospital spokesperson this am:

This HCW caught it AFTER Duncan had been admitted to the hospital on his second trip to the ER. HCW had been wearing PPE as prescribed by the CDC, mask/gown/gloves/shield.

Tell me again how Ebola is not airborne.

Just now... was looking for notes made actually legit notes... but this person who wrote this "catches info" from those in the know I guess.... ( take it or leave it. It also is about MacDill AFB too, military concerns ...

((( I have no idea who this lady is either. )))

It went to some viagra ad, lol.

A number of urgent updates are discussed in the video below, where multiple private and trusted sources have confirmed a few events of great importance, including the bombshell that Ebola has been confirmed in 9 of 50 states in America, and that there has been a news blackout over this to prevent panic in the US. John Moore also tells us that sources, both military and civilian personnel at MacDill Airforce base in Florida have told him they are “frantic” in last minute preparations for an attack on the United States. Further breaking updates from Moore’s sources inform him that an Urgent Care clinic in Frisco, Texas, has been shutdown and quarantined, and that an entire floor at a Galveston Hospital has been isolated to be used for Ebola patients.

( on my ISIS thread I knew about Ft. Bliss, so MacDill note makes sense)

Maybe it is just we have had up to 9 people treated so far in US? I am not sure if that adds up right, but those transferred back , medical workers from US brought back, Thomas.. and now the one nbc reporter ( with other news crew in isolation , in NJ maybe?) and the medical worker ( likely a nurse in the Dallas hospital who was working directly giving care to Thomas ( Jakks link) but media trickle censorship........ well we all know how that has gone the last several years , but essentially I think the main media are trying to present as much factual information as they can.

I am following Greta on Twitter about the ebola today, and will see what pops up there occasionally.

I also know I saw a news article float by about ebola stricken person in Brazil, so consider South America concerned with it. As well as UK is downplaying its arrival there , according to many BBC twitter feed posts yesterday... and they can perfectly handle it of course...... but obviously even with protective gear used consistently , one can still get exposed and become infected as we can see with Spanish nurse and our own in Dallas if the CDC ebola test comes back positive, prelim already positive in Dallas healthcare worker @ hospital who was directly caring for Thomas C.

I have also seen the conspiracy crud come out that it is manmade and man caused.......you know what??? It doesn't freakin' matter. It is simply here and in Africa. It spreads exponentially and it is very deadly and it's a pain trying to clean up afterwards. So, I am not really going there in my post I made above, but I wanted you to know, maybe it is being censored, how many around the US , new infections say.... may be going on. I think our avoidance and protection practices to try and not contract it if it becomes more prevalent are good ideas and that is what we CAN do, and prep for SIP or ahead of time BOB to some place we think reduces chance of contracting it , if someone cares to do so. I think our trying to get proper knowledge and understanding of it and how it can get passed along is very important and glad we started a good thread here on Ebola.

I also see some of those same types saying it doesn't exist at all and its made up stories to create fear to control us .... seriously?

So, yes, be careful with discerning truth from fiction when it comes to dialogues going on online about Ebola.

Tell me again how Ebola is not airborne.

It could be airborne.....but I do not think it is! I've heard nothing yet that indicates that. I don't trust that we're getting all the news, but I've decided I'm not going to dive into that terror-hole until DH or I turn up something substantial. DH is on the medical sites and hopefully the docs will be passing info amongst themselves on sites that the general public isn't as likely to visit.

Remember, while "airborne" makes it a whole new ballgame, Ebola doesn't have to be airborne to be very, very serious. Being HIGHLY INFECTIOUS means you don't have to get a big viral load [only a few virus cells : 1-10 will infect] to catch it. If coughing and vomiting are among the symptoms, of course thousands of cells are being exhaled and spewed.

Remember also, that wearing the protective gear is only as safe at the person handling the gear. It's as important as astronaut's space suits. The term "HOSTILE ENVIRONMENT" means environment that cannot sustain human life. Underwater SCUBA gear. Astronaut's space suits. Think of the training involved in learning to use this gear. With bio-hazard gear, the danger does NOT end when the person exits the Hostile Environment of the patient's room. Removal of bio-hazard gear is highly dangerous and must be done EXACTLY right.....especially if the person has been within the coughing/spewing/blood range of the patient.

========================================================================================

SERIOUSLY....if you hear of dozens and dozens of patients/staff who were in different floors and in different wings of the hospital catching Ebola.........THEN IT IS AIRBORNE, transmitted through the air ventilation systems.

========================================================================================

THAT is why "AIRBORNE" is such a TERROR. Then we all will need to :behindsofa: ....and very quickly. FORGET trying to go out into public with bio-hazard gear! WE are not trained enough to properly use the stuff if it's airborne! Hide and stay hidden. .......which is why we're PREPARED to seal ourselves with water/food/shelter/.....etc.

MtRider ....God, please help us all...but especially in West Africa where they cannot seem to stamp it down this time :(

I especially agree with this. I think it's very important to keep tabs on this issue....trying to ferret out [like Annarchy's furry friends lol ] what is true that we MUST know to keep as safe as possible. But beyond that, I've no energy to waste. YMMV

I heard a doctor of FOX news today talking about the Ebola Zaire strain and that's enough for me to not sleep at night:

http://www.newsnet5.com/nct/health/professor-of-biological-sciences-says-zaire-strain-of-ebola-primed-to-go-airborne

Why is a health care worker sick and yet all his family are still well, does that make sense to anyone here?? Not me.

Also 5 people were taken off flight this afternoon and waiting for confirmation in Kansas for possible ebola. Jeez this stuff scares me.

The nurse that was sick I don't think was totallly suited up like the drs have been showing. Her whole face/head wasn't covered. That's what they are showing here.

I haven't heard or read a report, but dh says that there is a case of Ebola one province to the west of us. He heard a news cast on the radio, yesterday afternoon, saying that the patient is in hospital in Edmonton! That is too close for my comfort! Has anyone else heard reports of this illness in Canada?

Link to comment

Yeah, Katz...I've certainly been wondering how many of his family is sick. Are we hearing anything about them?

I'm assuming we aren't hearing it all. But it is hard to keep information completely shut up in this electronic age. Then again, it's much harder to discern WHICH information is accurate.

MtRider  Have heard nothing about Canada, Lovinit.

Would you believe the CDC fella told Megan Kelly that "less is better" when suiting up to care for the sick? Actually said that healthcare people cover up too much and have to take more off, so that increases their exposure. When Megan asked him if he'd go in with only gloves, mask & covered shoes ... he said yes...and yet previously said the nurse had violated protocol...doesn't this give one confidence in our leadership?

Yeah......agree with Daylily and WE2. I'd have to hear a whole lot more explanation on that weird statement! Mainly for folks in close contact cuz "body fluids" are WET! Soaks cloth and seeps to a cut or open sore....

I don't know how folks in hot places are surviving inside the full protective suits tho..... :knary:

MtRider ....living in a world of deceit....where truth is in shorter supply than bleach and gloves... <_<

I am shaking my head alot at some of the interviews being done on various news channels. I think WE are doing a better job of trying to understand what is likely the facts in the matter, here. I appreciate the medical information and how to clean up with bleach solutions.

Just caught a number of articles where some of the exposed folks who are supposed to be being monitored, usually told to stay home as an isolation technique.... and one of them took a flight. The plane then was used for five more flights, here in the US/ Midwest area.

REALLY????? what the heck???

And then I see on a diabetic group that many of them could careless and are not worried. If it stays virulent on stuff, it will get on money too, dollar bills and coins, what happens when you prick your finger, sometimes several times a day and pick up the cash the cashier hands you and the ebola got in one of those little pokes? I have seen horrendous poking pictures for blood glucose monitoring on some people's fingers in these groups....... I get one but it 'closes' decently. What doesn't is torn cuticles, scratches, or pokes from my dpn needles that cause a tiny slit that may take days to heal up with my thick skin....... as one circumstance to consider.... they just think since its not totally airborne they have no concerns to worry about.

Really??? :gaah:

Another person on life supporting treatment that involves a rare disease that affects her lungs and is genetic , they are called Alpha's if that rings a bell, is in DFW area .........she was wondering about if people who are still carrying the Ebola virus give blood, will people who need transfusions ( she does as a matter of course during treatments) , as an example, will infect more people. Well, Aids did, so does herpes and Hep C.

Will they test the blood supply for this soon enough?

Link to comment

Even though it's been 2 1/2 months since "the surgery" ... I'm still concerned because of the two units I had to receive in the emergency situation I was faced with. I know they say they screen these donors but I'm still concerned & plan to ask my primary care giver if he thinks I should have my blood checked. If I had known there was any chance of me having to receive donated blood, I would have put my own aside ... especially since I'm NOT an O! I understand that O is compatible with nearly all other blood types, but I'm still concerned and still wonder if that is one of the reasons I have had such a difficult time recuperating and re-building my strength. I was told that donated blood dies off quicker than your own, so it takes a lot longer to re-build your own supply. Hospitals...doctor's offices...the worst place in the world to be if you're sick. Now isn't that a hoot!:

Patriot Nurse just posted this article,,,pretty scarey:

http://news.sky.com/story/1352857/sixty-days-to-beat-ebola-united-nations-warns

The CDC is a joke it seems to me, they have a rehearsed speech they say over and over to every question. And what's up with telling that nurse it was okay to get on the plane with a fever...granted she should have known better being a nurse...but they the CDC told her it was okay. Oh my gosh how far is this going to go before it stops.

Well, it looks like the second patient to contract Ebola flew in and out of Cleveland airport and spent some time in Akron before finally going home.

Why would anyone who had any contact with an Ebola person (protected or not) fly across the country to spend time with their families. Okay, they didn't have any symptoms but they knew they were at a greater risk for coming down with the disease. Health care persons know there is a 21 day incubation period. I just don't get it. :motz_6:

So much for "self quarantine". This is the second person that was self-monitoring, self-quarantined that went out in public. That one from NBC (Dr. Nancy something) went out to a deli to get some soup, this one flies half way across the country. How does TPTB expect to stop/slow down infections if they can't get doctors and nurses to follow orders?

Gov of TX returning home from overseas I guess to hold mtgs and make declaration . Friends who have brains in TX , are communicating with me, and cbs dallas confirms , his announcement will be at 2pm CDT tomorrow about decisions made. Probably will quarantine for real , anyone needing to be in isolation. They may do martial law , so they can legally detain in Dallas County and areas affected.

Also, if there is such a org as CIDRAP , they just warned Ebola should be considered AIRBORNE now . Period.

Really thoughtful..... must contaminate her fiancee and family.

I heard that the nurses that treated Duncan also treated whatever

other patient they wanted.

One man said his wife is working in a hospital and NO training has been

given regardless of the ebola now being in the US.

I still say every hospital, especially those around the communities of African populations,

should be giving drills. The people of Africa are coming here to get away from the disease.

Bringing it with them , of course, so the hospitals need to be ready and know what to do.

And we need to be thinking about what we are tracking in with our feet , bleaching our shoes.

If you shop in stores in an area of the A. communities use due dilligence.

The CDC said... no new deaths.... the CDC said over 4000 have died... the CDC said numbers could increase to 10000

per week......

I can not help but think there is a conspiracy to distort info to the American people. Ebola is hard to contact ,

you can sit next to them in the bus and be safe.... you do not need all the protection..........

yea I don't like living in an apartment with the only exit being out the door to a central hallway. and central stair only for getting up and down to it.For up to twenty different people several times a day and people coming to the businesses on the street.

First choice since it definitely Fall and the nights are getting colder, stay at home anyway.... if need be. At least I have ways to content myself at home. Second........................

I may just get my wagon packed for rainy wintery camp and my pack as I am going through all that stuff this week. I traced a trail I can walk a reasonable road to and found there is pond and trees , its considered wilderness area so one can open camp there. no houses and the weather is knocking down the peak fall foilage now as it rains steadily. So people will rarely take that trail compared to the flow of folks right here on my block and in my town.

I used Google earth to do it.... if I went further than the pond , it would bring me back around to the creek I called Jolly creek in the no lights thread and that area , as well . Other trails intersect near a large mountain and go over to another town , that also is near another trail hub for many many trails going southward. The third trail goes in a direction up the ridge beyond Jolly Creek and back up to another route road that leads down to town. ( the long way home) .

I would just fashion a good comfy camp if I could. Honestly the creativity level of most people around here, well there is none. I think I could get away with it, or if a day hiker noticed, I would just say I am practicing bushcraft skills, and they wouldn't question it. I will leave word, always with one or two good friends ... but this is to make sure not many know , as well.

SIP first, but if I hear it spreading upward and inward from coasts and main cities, I may take off before they come down on us with martial law and plan to stay a few weeks.

My back pack pot will come in handy now.
