Mt_Rider Posted April 23, 2020 Posted April 23, 2020 Hmm....CO is doing okaaay......compared to those top states. We're just under 11, 000 cases confirmed. About 500 deaths....but again, if someone had terminal cancer and death was hastened by COVID......it got counted as COVID. Lot of states a lot less than CO. MtRider 1
Ambergris Posted April 23, 2020 Author Posted April 23, 2020 Well, if a guy had rabies and terminal cancer and gangrenous sores on his feet, and people who brought by groceries when they "could," so he shot himself (what I keep thinking I would have done in his place), it would be counted as suicide, right? Last intervening cause. But lung schmutz on top of lung schmutz gets complicated. I'm in a medium-okay part of a medium-scary state, a medium-comfortable two counties away from Georgia's super-spreader Albany cluster. For a while there, the Albany thing had my attention. I had a heads-up, as a member of my group had just clocked out and was leaving work when forty people reported to the emergency room with coughing and shortness of breath all at once. It was the highest per capita infection rate in the country and it seemed to be moving my way--but then the numbers resolved, and it was not moving my way at all. 3

The WE2's Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 Americans are getting pretty tired of this stuff! I found a report from the "Health" yada yada yada, for our state. Read the COMPLETE report, and the very last couple of paragraphs announced that there had been some "not accurate" information entered into our state's data banks...then the very last line stated that there was no surge. I read today that the Prez will no longer be holding briefings...that he's going to focus on rebuilding our economy. Good for him! Let those knuckle heads keep making up their stories...as usual. He's got to get his head wrapped around what it's going to take to rebuild our country...in my opinion. 2

Mt_Rider Posted April 26, 2020 Posted April 26, 2020 The CO counties with very high numbers are choosing not to open up to the next phase yet. Denver and surrounding counties, mostly. Some CO counties haven't had even one case. Quite a few are under 6 or 8 cases. So does that mean there aren't and haven't been COVID ....or not many tests have been done? They certainly would have known if folks got a bad case.... Some counties have very low population density and will be going to Phase: Safer At Home. Meaning....go to your re-opened jobs if you must but stay home if you can. If you're classified 'vulnerable' then stay at home longer. MtRider ....staying at home. We've got the option to do so....so why not. 2
Ambergris Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 April 20 Military Times article clipping: More than 100 new cases diagnosed per day Since late March, the services have averaged between 100 and 200 new cases daily among service members. The most recent count, according to DoD’s data, shows 3,438 cases, up from 2,986 on [April 18]. The infection rate among service members stands at 1,637-per-million as of [April 20], compared with the overall U.S. rate of 2,283-per-million. With 22 deaths so far, DoD’s death rate is at 0.4 percent versus the overall U.S. rate of 5 percent. April 17 article says Nearly 3,000 service members have been diagnosed with COVID-19, according to the Defense Department’s latest data, with about 2,300 cases still active and almost 1,000 new cases added in each of the last two weeks. With 2,986 cases among troops, the military’s infection rate now stands at 1,421-per-million, or 0.14 percent. That’s compared to the overall U.S. rate of 1,932-per-million, or 0.2 percent. The Navy saw its cases rise above 1,000 this week, hitting 1,017 on Friday. Much of that surge has come from 100-percent testing aboard the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt, which has been pierside in Guam for nearly two weeks following an outbreak. Of 4,800 sailors on board, about 4,500 had been tested as of Friday morning. Of 660 positive tests, more than half have come from asymptomatic sailors, senior Pentagon leadership confirmed this week. The other services’ COVID-19 counts continue to grow steadily as well. The Army added 315 cases this week, coming to 726, an increase of 77 percent. The Air Force now sits at 328 cases, up 28 percent over the week, while the Marine Corps grew 34 percent, to 236 cases. The National Guard, which has roughly 30,000 airmen and soldiers deployed in support of local pandemic response efforts, saw its cases grow 49 percent this week, to 609 as of Friday morning. Of troops diagnosed with COVID-19, 88 have been hospitalized and 669 have recovered. Two deaths include a New Jersey National Guard soldier and a chief assigned to TR. 3
Jeepers Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 I feel for our military. Living in barracks is extreme close quarter living. Not to mention ship quarters. 1

Mt_Rider Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 (edited) We've got over 13,000 now in the Confirmed Positive category. So we're creeping upwards. I just noticed something. EVERY SINGLE ONE of the top Confirmed Positive states are "coastal". In the case of Michigan and Illinois, it is along the Great Lakes rather than oceans or gulf. But that waterway leads to International waters. Some connection with International migrations/vacations/guests during the first of the year...even in Chiago?? Do you know if the military are counted in the USA count, Ambergris? Since those posts were just above today's tally. We'll be passing a million tomorrow. Still, per capita.....? MtRider Edited April 27, 2020 by Mt_Rider 1
Ambergris Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 Presumably, the military is included in the US total, unless (a) they are adding up the list AND (b) the military is keeping its own separate count. Computers are pretty literal with their instructions, and end up with some pin-headed results, so you can't exclude the possibility. Jeepers did find where the military was at one point keeping its separate tally, but we don't know if they still are. I can't find that tally. 1 1
Ambergris Posted April 27, 2020 Author Posted April 27, 2020 I'm out today in search of a new dentist. 1 2
Jeepers Posted April 27, 2020 Posted April 27, 2020 Good luck on your search Ambergris. I'm afraid that might be in my future too. Some prepper I am. I didn't get my dental work done nor my hair cut before the big quarantine came and I knew better. 2
