Mt_Rider Posted June 1, 2020 Posted June 1, 2020 Deaths...Hawaii DD2 says most of the deaths were tourists who came down with COVID while visiting. RE: spikes in cases.......is it too early for the Opening From LockDown to be the cause of these spikes....or not? Frankly, I've lost all track of the days/weeks lately. Not too unusual for me tho... lol 7 hours ago, snapshotmiki said: Wonder if there will be spikes in cases where the riots are? They seem not to be social distancing. I wondered that too, Miki! A lot do seem to be wearing masks....... OTOH masks seem to serve two purposes for those indulging in violence.... Wellllll, if folks are going to be shouting, they are spewing out of their mouth and we know a choir singing will spread the virus. So good for those who mask and shout peacefully! They're doing it right. MtRider ......but many, many are not doing it right Don't Be There. 2
Ambergris Posted June 1, 2020 Author Posted June 1, 2020 I was looking at a lot of the videos DS1 sent me, and thinking "Don't Be There" over and over. The old man knocked down by the cop with the shield was one of the very few I unreservedly felt sorry for. When a phalanx of soldiers is coming down your street saying "get inside," you really probably should get inside, you know? This was also not the night to be downtown, anywhere, for any loose reason. Also, the reporters asked for their jobs, and getting into the middle of it means they are going to get their noses bloodied (and, sometimes, worse). I know rubber bullets are supposed to be fired at the ground to bounce up at people, but that doesn't always happen. Don't. Be. There. 4
Midnightmom Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 To say "spikes" in covid cases is designed to continue that fear that is needed to continue the control that the left does not want to surrender. "Spikes," rather, increases in cases has ALWAYS been known to be expected once people started circulating and interacting again. They are also using the increase in testing that is now being done to further flame the fire. The "flu season" is over. The temps are heating up. The covid virus can't survive the heat or the ultra-violet rays of the sunshine. The "experts" are constantly changing their opinions of the survivability of the virus on various surfaces. The cat is out of the bag! 1
Littlesister Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Haven't had a chance to read all of these post here on the Corvid yet. But we are now under a mandatory wear a mask when going out in public. so when I went to the store today there were people both adults and children with no mask. I think they said if caught they would be fined. Not going there with that one. Our rights are being infringed on. But it is for our safety. I wore mine in the store and still using hand sanitizer. Food Lion had Clorox bleach today, so I bought 2 of them. Still no paper products or much in the cleaning products either. I am going to add paper towels to my Amazon prime grocery for every two month delivery along with the TP I already am getting. Might look around to see what else I could use that I might put on that deal. Seems the more you buy on an auto ship plan the cheaper it is for each item you buy. Going to call DH's cousin tomorrow to find out what veggies they are getting in so I can buy a bushel of corn, Roma tomatoes, and some other things that I want to get canned as well as chicken and hamburger. Still got lots of beef that I canned over a year ago. Trying to stay as far away from Wal Mart as I can. It has now been well over 6 months since I was in there last. I am getting to the point I would rather buy from the local folks and keep them in business. Haven't been to BJ's or Sam's club now in about 4 months. Just to far to go when I have to leave DH at home by himself. So trying to either get what I need on line and going to the closest stores to me. Won't let him stay by himself more than an hour at a time. Week ends are easier to get out as my daughter and son in law comes and stays so I can get more done. Daughter is going to Sam's for me next week end. I just need to get a list together for her. Cousin's market is going to deliver the veggies and meat to the house for me so I don't have to leave DH home by himself. So I will be busy canning rather nurses are here or not. That is something I need to do. The price of groceries are going way up. My daughter went for them last week and spent almost $300 on groceries for the same stuff she always buys. Said that the same items she bought every week now is costing her over $100 more. I think this is going to be a sign of the times. Prices on everything is going to skyrocket. 4

Mt_Rider Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 That incident shocked me too....posted down in the Edge topic. But also think I'd clear out quick....once I realized they were actually talking to me. Didn't give those ladies much time to process. Actually, if I saw them coming, I'd be inside peeking out from behind the curtains!! I'd hate to think of the power some of those young men were feeling......that leads to bad things. Pretty much like the bad things the protests are really about. AND "Light em up"...REALLY? Do we say Heil Hitler to the brat? The other feeling among them, especially the inexperienced Nat. Guard, might be fear....."I'll feel better if you aren't staring at my back after I go down the street past you." At any rate.... 2 hours ago, dogmom4 said: We are not under martial law...at least not yet.... that we do NOT get there. We're under siege and not from the regular protesters. Tooo many 'extras' So for me, I'm not gonna be there.....easy cuz I'm in the boonies tho. But that's a choice I could and did make. MtRider .....have encouraged my folks to RE-stock up in case COVID becomes a problem again. Never hurts to have it....in case of ANYthing. 2
euphrasyne Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 I think we will be under martial law soon. Sunday they set fire to a building in Virginia Beach that had women and children in it. Blocked the fire escapes then blocked emergency crews. The people luckily got out. They did the same thing in Richmond last night only with a multi-family housing unit. Blocked the fire escapes, set the fire, then blocked emergency crews. People finally managed to get out. Next time, I'm thinking there is going to be a next time, people may not get out. Burning people alive is not a protest. 6
Littlesister Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 Euphrasyne, I heard something about that but wasn't sure of where. Had busy morning taking care of DH. He's not steady on feet this morning. Though I did manage to get him in shower, and dressed. But he wanted to go back and lay down in bed. So now he is asleep but the speech therapist is coming anytime now. I will let him rest till she gets here. There have been peaceful protest in the Harborview area. That is getting to close for comfort. Hoping it doesn't turn violent tonight. Praying for all to be safe. Going to call market after therapist leaves to order some meat and veggies to can tomorrow. 2
Jeepers Posted June 2, 2020 Posted June 2, 2020 It's starting up in Cleveland Ohio too. Sigh. Thankfully I'm far enough away. So far. And you know the whole world is watching our dirty laundry being played out. 1 3
Ambergris Posted June 2, 2020 Author Posted June 2, 2020 (edited) The rector of St John's was tear-gassed, with her relief group, to clear them off the front porch of the church so that 45 could get his photo op. https://www.indcatholicnews.com/news/39715 If soldiers are ordering you to "get inside," it is smart to get inside if you do not have the means to meaningfully resist the order. The people might not have had time to process after "light them up" but they had plenty of time to "get inside." You have to pick your battles. If you can't win the battle, Don't. Be. There. I'm not working today. Too scattered after falling. I guess I should have gone to the doctor, but I know all the exercise patterns for post-concussion, and actually I don't think I'm there. Ambergris Posted June 3, 2020 Author Posted June 3, 2020 What I meant was, it comes a point where it doesn't matter whether you have a right to do it. It matters whether exercising your right in this red-hot minute is going to get you lit up. A person has to pick her battles. 4
Mt_Rider Posted June 3, 2020 Posted June 3, 2020 (edited) I agree with that, Ambergris. Live to fight another day.... But as I watched that video, I would not have thot....I did not think that the boys were referring to folks on their porch. Anyone up close to the street...by their fence/property lines...maybe? Quite frankly, I wouldn't have ....and didn't think that fast EVEN as I watched the video. OH....THEY MEAN US....MOVE MOVE MOVE! [as I said, if I'd have been caught In Town for some reason, I really likely would have been behind the curtains tho] Normacy Bias. I'm not the problem so I should not HAVE a problem....or be MISTAKEN for a problem. Sheeesh, I fight that and yet I know isolated and "safe" in my boonies makes me more vulnerable to "NOT catching on quick enough"! We're a bit off topic here....important topic but kinda the wrong thread. I have a topic ....a story I haven't really wanted to tell/discussion but I think I will. Something that happened to DH and I with a sheriff's deputy on Mother's day. Pales in comparison to this week's news but....it made me "itchy". Along with the Contact Tracing. Will start another thread in Edge but....gotta go call my mom. MtRider Edited June 3, 2020 by Mt_Rider clarity 2

Littlesister Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 It is a sad thing that happened to that man. But for rioters to be bused into towns to loot and destroy property of people that have nothing to do with what those officers did. I do have an issue with that. I am ok with peaceful protest and honoring the person that died. Looting, riots and burning buildings has nothing to do with the issue at hand. That in my book is a dishonor to the family of that man. All those people that had business that were looted and burned. They have no insurance to rebuild. Insurance will not cover Wars and riots. So those people are now without jobs to feed their families. And yes some of those people that had businesses destroyed was black. So where is the honor in all that. Rioters don't care if you are black or white. They are only there to steal and destroy. And what about that black retired policeman that was shot for trying to protect his business? Yes now his wife is a widow and will have to deal with what to do with the destruction of that business. I see things a bit different than a lot of people. It is just the way I am. So hope you see where this is going. Not to offend anyone. I just see things in a more Biblical light. Also when Trump wanted to go over to the Church they burned, There was NO tear gas used, nor rubber bullets. It was all media propaganda to make Trump look bad. Though he really does need to give up his Twitter account. 1
