WHATCHA DOING TODAY?

Recommended Posts

grrrr  I am a little aggravated tonight.  While I was gone to the doctor today my coffeemaker disappeared.  Did some checking and the 'corporate' folks came by and decided I could not have it because I might burn myself with hot water, or leave it on and start a fire, or....something.....so they confiscated it.  No note, no explaination.  It is not on the list of "prohibited items" they gave me.  So now I am back to trying to get coffee in the morning.  On my tray I keep getting sweet tea, or nothing.  It says on my food slip I do not do sweet tea, bring coffee or milk.  Bu no, I get sweet tea every meal.  The only way I have gotten any coffee so far  is to provide my own (and I happily share with others).  So I am quite miffed.  Im not here because Im dotty.....or careless.....or even fall down a lot....I do not have memory issues.......but for PT after surgery.  Apparently corporate folks think that once you hit 65 your brains dissolve and you need a keeper.:gaah:

I do not appreciate being treated like Im senile.  Oh well, tomorrow I will go vehemently and vociferously complain and demand my pot back so I can ship it home....if they had even talked to me I'd have agreed to send it home, but no, they took it while I was out getting medical tests.  How.....rude!   How....condescending!.....  tomorrow I go back to begging for coffee and if I am lucky I will get one cup....cold.....4 hours after I wake up and want one....IF I go to the kitchen and get it myself.

I am  Soooooo Glad Im going home soon.  They can stick their 'sweet tea'.....:beat_deadhorse:

I hope you've got the corporate office straightened out by now!  That was very unprofessional of them to take something from your room that was yours without speaking to you!  I would be complaining to their bosses!

Mt. Rider, I wouldn't let DH buy me any candy. I would eat it and I am diabetic. And you best not be getting sick again. Maybe you were just tired from shoveling snow. Hope you are not diabetic, if so that could explain the candy. Bad girl. :yum3:

:happy0203:   NOPE.....I just had ALL the tests with new doc and I'm not diabetic.  :amen:  :amen:  Quite likely the snow removal.  I come from a long genetic line of sugar addicts....and they all lived into their mid-90's.  My dad's the 3rd in that line that we know of.....eating chocolates and other things by the box in their elder years.  All very thin and all functioning.....none in nursing home.  Go figure?

Another day with snow and more coming.  :0327:   Have I mentioned that I PARTICULARLY hate snow this month?  :tapfoot:

Not much to do when locked in the house.....  :sassing:   .....going a bit snowbound-crazy!!!  :bounce:    But....thankful I'm feeling well enough to be bothered by it!

Mt. Rider, I am so glad you are not diabetic. I have been trying not to let it rule me. But somedays. the good food wins. though mine is type 2 and not to bad. I still like eating things I know I shouldn't. My mothers side of family almost all had it.

Rest up.  You will need it for round 2 of that snow.  Just glad that so far we have not gotten it. But I also know that we have had our worse snows in March.

Kappy,  we are going to have to come have coffee with you in the morning. But I think you will be about ready to get sprung and going home.

Ambergris that is great news. I go for my phys. next month. I am hoping everything turns out good for me this time around. Need to try harder to get my A1C down. but I have been eating to many carbs and need to start cutting back again. Seems I do that every winter. To many carbs. Can I blame it on the cold weather?

This morning I went to dentist and then went to Auto Zone to have my computer checked on car. Seems the engine light just loves to come on at any given time and then by the time you get it down to be checked it goes out.  So got to Auto Zone and when I parked and turned engine off it was on. When the girl came out to check the problem it was off again but she was able to get the code. Seems the transmission sensor has a short saying it is over heating. So now I need to make appt. with the care dealership as it is under warranty.

Then came home and did a little work around house and then off to Lidil's store. Their prices are really going up and they have a lot less food and more junk than anything else. So we just picked up a few sale items and came home.  DH went with me which surprised me as he was sound asleep and I woke him up to see if he wanted to go. He said yes and got himself together and went. So he got some walking in today. Though it did tire him out more this time. Made taco's for dinner tonight using the last of my canned hamburger from 2013. Need to start watching for some hamburger sales again so I can get more canned.

Lidil has a 'rotating junk' isle that is in the back corner near the frozen.  I often find really good deals like .50 for a can of coconut milk or canned artichoke for a dollar.  You have to look through all the other overpriced stuff, but they often have a few good, cheap items there.  Also they usually have the cheapest Italian sausages and fancy cheeses-- which is hubbies favorite dinner.

I ran some quick errands today. Dumped a lot of papers at the recycle bin and stopped off at the library. I swung by Gordon Food Service to get some spices. Mainly onion and garlic granules and some cinnamon. Then I cleaned out the car...a little.

I stopped in Wal-Mart to get one of those grabber things that seniors use to get things off of a high shelf or pick up things off of the floor. I just wanted a cheap one to use for picking up a mouse in a trap (hopefully) when I go back to Indy. I'm not touching those things. Not even with gloves on. If I get any mice trapped I'll pick them up with that grabber thing and put them right in a bagged trash can in the garage. Then tie it up and take to a dumpster. I've thought this thing out. Yuck.

Son drove by the house and picked up my mail. That bank who said my mail was sent back to them as an incorrect address and wanted me to file a change of address form for (can't remember how much monthly subscription fee $$$) even though they have sent me plenty of mail at that address...finally got it right. A miracle. It was my tax information. I don't believe they ever sent it in the first place. I was mad over that but even madder when they didn't call or email me back giving me a heads up that they had sent it. Not sure how long it sat in the mailbox. Would it have hurt to send another email telling me it was sent so I could watch for it? Evidently so.

Your bank sounds like our mortgage company, @Jeepers.

Housework today--Swept house and dusted. Made oatmeal for the next few day's breakfasts. Staying home a lot more than normal. It's cool and rainy most days and I don't need to be out in that.

Gotta love banks.  I have been thinking about slowly pulling some money out of ours. It is changing hands again. Every time a bank does this we loose $200. We are not the only ones in there raising cane over it. So here we go again. But they know me and what I will do. So it best not happen this time.

Took DH to Gastro doctor today. He has scarring on liver but not bad. Test showed he has NASH Cirrhosis.  It can be turned around if I can get his sugar levels down. This type is caused by Diabitics.  His A1C on last check was 7.0 and that is to high but his family doctor said it is in range. No it's not and his Gastro doctor said that is to high. So we have some work to do to get that number down. He will now be taken Liv 52 and Mild Thistle for the liver. Doc. said it would be good as they are a liver cleanse. It helps with fatty liver as well.

We are going to get the snow. So off to store for coffee creamer and just a few odd and ends as I am not driving anywhere for a couple of days. Though tomorrow morning I have food ministry but will be home by noon. The snow starts tomorrow evening. yuk. They can't seem to decide on the amount. The projection said from 1.5 to 8 inches. We know the 8 inches is off and figure maybe 1.5 to maybe 2 inches. Was hoping it would by pass us this winter.

Back in TX safely. Mostly uneventful, until I got close to Los Cruses, NM... then, I-10 stopped for just over an hour.  An 18 wheeler burned up on the side of the road. Nothing but burnt melted metal left.  While sitting there, I counted over 50 BP, DPS, SO’s, ambulances & other law enforcement vehicles going in the other direction with lights & sirens.

Our meeting is for 10 am tomorrow...  time to get some sleep.

Wow, Annarchy!  The things you see on these TX trips.  Glad you were waiting and not involved!!

Little Sister....you haven't gotten any snow and now they say ....up to 8"??  Hmm, that would be rude.  But y'all have been so warm, it will melt, right?

Jeepers....good to hear you are out and about again!  :amen:

Ambergris.....  :cheer:

Snapshotmiki.....speaking of weather, I keep seeing flooding in your region.  Suppose God could arrange a flood so you could PROVE that your house is NOT in the flood range?   ......or would that be a little over the top for other folks.  :whistling:    Just burns me that you get stuck in this thing that is WRONG!  :hug3:

We're getting snow, of course.  Thru the evening and til morning.     S will come tomorrow and plow us out ....AGAIN!  But......I got my truck moved down below.....out of the way.  FINALLY!  I also was able to stand on the dropped tail gait  gate to shovel and pick all the WEEKS of snow accumulation off the aluminum topper.  Was afraid it was going to collapse.  The bottom had condensed into ICE.  Took me quite a while.  Stood on the horse mounting block ...happens I parked next to that....to get the stuff further towards the front.  And COLD/WIND the whole time... :frozen:    DH was down there...walking dog and waiting for me to finish.  Got ride up the driveway, of course.  I still set to SHAKING after any exertion.  :imoksmiley:  But...got 'er done!  :amen:

MtRider  ......resting a lot after that  :pc_coffee:

Wouldn't matter.  It's about the money for this company, I think.  Local agent said he can't do quote because there is not a new elevation certificate.  Mortgage company says they cannot contact FEMA to do one.  So how are they coming up with a policy?  We will be requesting supporting documentation (so our local agent can give us a quote) as well as a copy of the flood insurance policy if or when they do force place a payment on our mortgage.  We will see.

I believe that if they do not send documentation within 8 weeks, I can file a formal complaint with Insurance Commission.

We are just trying to do the next right thing in this matter.

Today is raining and cool (50) all day and down to 32 tonight.  Staying inside and cleaning bathrooms.  Maybe making Lentil Taco Meat for my low carb tortillas.

my counter tops

I keep a small spray bottle (from $Tree) with a mix of water, bleach and a few drops of dish soap.  I also keep Lysol wipes on the counter to wipe off the counter etc.

line-dancing

People usually have no idea how wonderful dancing is for our bodies...even if it's not pretty!  We met at a Christian based ball room ... dancing...and still love it!  Just the gentle movements of a waltz are good.  Gentle twists of the waist are wonderful...the "Electric Slide" is a great one and EZ to learn.  Find a Youtube video and get started!

I don't think Vitamin D is a water soluble vitamin?  I have some OTC that I take when I'm not out and about during the winter ... guess I need to keep track of you girls's information!

High Uric Acid

Hubby has to take RX for gout.  Has kept it under control very successfully.  BUT...we also know that a daily dose of baking soda brings it to it's knees.  The only problem is that baking soda also elevates blood pressure.  We found that out.  But it does work!  In a pinch we know how to deal with it, just can't take it every day.

Also...Littlesister...am I correct that you were in the nursing field?

coffee

I'd have to keep some instant coffee hidden and use hot water from the tap if I had to...I'm not very friendly if I can't have at least ONE cup of coffee when I get up!  Even warm is better than none!  I feel your aggravation!

Been a very busy time in our lives.  Delivered Valentine's Day flowers on Thursday in -6 degree weather and high winds.  Hubby insulated himself well and knocked on doors before taking them their flowers.  We had to wrap all the bouquets for safety.  Then Friday, it warmed up to about 32 degrees but not much wind.  Still kept ourselves warm and knocked first.  Glad the florist provides us a nice lunch.  But we have been delivering for them for several years and enjoy making people smile and it's a day for us to recognize our commitment to each other.

Then Saturday it warmed up a bit and we had a family gathering with my brother.  We drove "Miss B" so our Abby-girl could go with us and stay inside the motorhome while we were there.  Hubby took her out a couple of times for a walk and poo.  I may have mentioned to you that he has stage 4 lung and throat cancer.  They've pretty much resigned themselves the diagnosis and he's taking chemo.  They're selling their city home and moving to their lake property.  We're going Saturday to help her unload what she's keeping.  Others that are closer to their city place will help with the loading up.  This is a bit hard for me...I've said goodbye to three younger brothers and only have one left and one sister. The last brother that passed also fell victim to cancer so this is really difficult for all of us.  Lot's of sad memories to deal with.

Hubby finally got the main joist's done and is just about to wrap up the "hole" between the crawl space and the basement.  We did take two days off to get the extended pantry put back together and re-organized.  Tuckered both of us out but for the most part it's now done and actually better organized.  Worked on a lighting issue so we can see much better.  We keep the room totally sealed off from light unless we're in there, so it's important for us to have good lighting when we are in there.

I'm sharing a couple of pics with you girls from our family gathering. My brother that's ill is on your right, in the ball cap.

So, we came home last night to no water. Called a plumber. Turns out the well pipe went bad. So they were here and then left for town to get supplies. Ugh.But hopefully the repairs can be done today.

i had to dip into our water preps and disinfection wipes. Glad to have them.

With DH’s knee, although he has a history of gout, it may be a bone infection and not gout, which is why it has not responded to gout treatment. We are now in the process of being referred to yet another specialist in a big city. Yikes. I am afraid how much this will cost, as I think it is “out of network.” I freaking HATE our crappy for-profit insurance system!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
