WHATCHA DOING TODAY?

Recommended Posts

Will try to get more pics moved over.  If I could have figured out how to get pics from phone to computer earlier, I could have just sent a little at a time.  The picture of DH standing in Driveway was five years ago. The one of him sitting in chair asleep was about a year Before he passed. The other one was my daughter and I being funny.20220222_144634.thumb.jpg.a1f9b7be41dc92fea778a8e7298777fd.jpgIMG_20200321_164654654.thumb.jpg.39fbd6a53dc889486567a36224a2785e.jpgIMG_20200321_164654654.thumb.jpg.c0b9f71a11b0cca3e587b29721e95d24.jpg20220309_122928.thumb.jpg.cd18ca85e2aa1085b029fcbe879488ed.jpg20220309_123022.thumb.jpg.0844da36344bd713a9e3605f170420a7.jpgIMG_20170227_125701864_resized.jpg.c842cdc54f0e1284770c176da0fa81ca.jpgIMG_20160227_175526510.jpg.3f7dc86cab55a6f5f1a41c0ebe2a61bf.jpg20220311_174634.thumb.jpg.c5a7e6d280f4e8cf684230d0b0530a15.jpg20220309_123029.thumb.jpg.21c698410377b2235d0758c5d10c3caf.jpg20220309_123022.thumb.jpg.dcbe03b678bc15e4c56978958c0fd8ae.jpg20220309_122928.thumb.jpg.e22005981f11da28c3b7922c125efd6e.jpg20220309_122913.thumb.jpg.62cc17523be801cfe71465c984a1da41.jpg20220302_143046.thumb.jpg.f7814302a9dc3298afa2f4f4881ac781.jpg20220228_145600.thumb.jpg.c0faf8af89304ccd247dfea9a4cc6ef2.jpg20220228_145558.thumb.jpg.a880b8aff419ea75c55cac9af4454a75.jpg20220225_115551.thumb.jpg.097fceaa9e7ea1e521f0b2d148e39d85.jpg20220222_144645.thumb.jpg.f4ba3aa1ea327600e206675be6de4b24.jpg  time. Lovely pictures. Thank you for sharing them with us. You are going to be so happy you had it redone...when it's over.

I wish my kitchen was as big as yours. Mine is a galley type. I'm okay with it though because it's a straight shot from the garage with only one step. I really struggle with steps and balance issues these days. And what a nice big sink! Will be perfect for a canning in.

I think I need a walk-in shower in my life too. But I don't want to lose a bathtub. I don't think there is room for both. I can't build out because the bathroom wall backs up to the garage. Kind of a moot point for me anyway because with all that house needs, I couldn't afford it any time soon.

If you saw the picture of my DH asleep in chair, that is total renal failure that the hospital did nothing about. You can tell how swollen his stomach is and he is bloated.  No follow up visits or nothing. Still makes me mad that our medical system has gotten this bad. The one where he is standing outside, he looks so serious and was heathier then. He was measuring out where to put the new shed.

The contractors are all coming tomorrow. They didn't come today as the shower door came in today and they want to get the door in tomorrow and finish up that bathroom. Then the main bath demo will start. The dust again begins. Fun.

Was tired of sitting home despite the price of gas ($4.09) by me. Went to Harborview and did a little shopping. Office Max is closing shop and TJ Max is taken over both the store they have next to it and that one as well. So, they are expanding a lot. Also, the Bed Bath and Beyond that went out of business here is now going to be a Home Goods store. They will be opening in Oct. :hapydancsmil:No going to Newport News to Home Goods anymore.

I've been so busy. And the water bill thing going on. So far no one will call us back to have a meeting.
Anyway, walked every day and walked the dogs a few times.
Laundry is done.
Dog food ingredients (meat) are thawing.
Yesterday, grilled 3 packs of pork chops, 3 packs of deer sausage and a 10 # bag of chicken thighs.
This afternoon, I will make 2 different pasta salads for a dinner at Church tomorrow. Senior club.
A quarter of the way through the year already.

I work from home, and this is one of my busier work days of the week. So I did some work, then filled some water storage and put some dehydrated potatoes and instant mashed potatoes into food bucket storage. I'm about to take a break for lunch, and then I'll work for the afternoon. I'll pretty much get up from my computer and get into the car to head to church. One of my kiddos stays longer than the rest of us on Wednesday nights, so I'll crochet and catch up on news while waiting for him.

Your home is beautiful, LittleSister! I am still in the planning stages of some renovations. I am not looking forward to the dust, noise, and the high cost of materials. W have also been shopping for a new (to us) home online. The purchase prices have gone up over the past few years.

Lots of spring chores getting done around here - while I have the energy (it's a good day).  I can't remember if I was on here before, years ago, or if I'm a new member :sheeple:

Today so far got the pool out and filled for the geese, the winter water pans out of the run to be cleaned and stored for October/November, and the "summer" waterers out (2, 8gal apiece that the geese can drink out of, but not sit in!).  Also have protectors for the trees in the chicken yard (next project after cleaning the pans) as the geese seem to like cherry bark specifically.

I guess I'll go find the introduction thread to re-introduce myself too (but later).

Welcome AmyLin. Glad you joined us rather you are new or an oldie, will be nice to get some new ways of how people are preparing for hard times.

Themartianchick, thank you, the dust and mess are awful.  They put plastic up during the demo, but that cement dust from bathrooms goes straight through it. I have been trying to clean up as much dust as I can, but till I can get the work done and start unpacking things and putting it all away, I can only clean up so much. But working on it.

This morning I went to Lidl's and bought a few groceries I was low on. They had the same shelving units that I bought from them before. The picture from Wal-Mart are the ones they had so I bought 2 more units. Working on plans to turn that small bedroom into a pantry as I do not have a real pantry near kitchen. Kitchen cabinets will only hold so much plus the dishes. Came home and put up the food and did more cleaning around the house. Been an easy day today otherwise. They will be putting in backsplash in kitchen either tomorrow or Friday. I am hoping for tomorrow as I need to finish cleaning kitchen so I can hopefully can some meats this weekend.

 AmyLin.  Your profile says you joined in 2010 so WELCOME BACK.  It sounds like you have been busy.  We no longer have them but I’ve had hundreds of geese over the years.  They Do like fruit tree bark.  Especially during winter but are wonderful grass mowers in the orchard.   When you are ready head on over to the homestead forum and talk about your geese.

Long day……

Up early, finished packing & loading my vehicle.  Headed to TX.  A LOT of truck on the road.  All went smoothly until NM, then, 5 miles in, traffic stopped.  Stop & go for 17 miles, due to 1 lane of traffic on I-10, road construction…. Believe me when I say it was well overdue!!!  But, it took over an hour to get past it and traffic was backed up into AZ over 22 miles.

Stopped at a friends house in NM & dropped off some sourdough starter and  some other things, then, rushed back to I-10 to miss the dust storm, which was moving faster than I was driving….

Anyway, made it here to TX.  MIL has a ToDo list for me, and while I go meat shopping tomorrow, she will be packing the suitcases I brought for her.  She is going to spend a couple of months with us.

Time to get some sleep!

BTW, it is AWESOME to see so many people here!  Goodness it’s gonna take me a while to read through everything!!!   :pc_coffee:

Annarchy, Have a safe and fun trip.

Been a slow day today. Hands are killing me with this rain. Got caught in it when I went to Food Lion. The limit of 2 signs is gone now. They had chicken wings that I had not seen in a long while. But they are very expensive from what they use to be.  $4.79 a lb. Didn't buy much this time around. I can't get the stuff I have been trying to stock up on sale put away till they finish up this house. So, it is all sitting everywhere in small bedroom still in bags. What can I say? Between packing up the kitchen and den that is now piled up in living room and dining room and the small bedroom is jammed packed, I am so ready to get them to finish up and get out so I can clean house. This week was 4 days of not coming because of materials being late coming in. So now the back splash is not here, and I wanted to start canning, so again will have to put that on hold. Need to get the meat canned and empty the freezers before I miss any good sales on meat.

I hope you have gotten some good deals today, @Annarchy!

Littlesister, you are learning patience the hard way!  LOL  Me too!

Yesterday morning, I walked and then made biscuits for Church dinner to go with the pasta salads made the day before. Did senior Church gig. Went back and helped make baked beans and slaw for today's fundraiser. Went back again for prayer meeting.

No walk today.
Went to hardware store for tomato and jalapeno plants.
Cut up veggies, chicken and chicken livers for dog food and cooked burger.
Called and made appt. with tax lady.
Went to City Hall- again. Mayor supposed to call - hasn't happened yet. I am keeping written record since we haven't even been able to speak to her.Going to walk garden area in a few minutes and plan--getting tilled this weekend.
Will make dog food to cook overnight, later this evening.
Whew!

Miki, you are really having a hard time with the water. I think that goes beyond patience. People here have been complaining about their water bills but not like the trouble you are having. Mine is finally coming back down now that the grandkids have moved in with her parents.  Got it back down by about $200.  Never have we had a water bill that high before. Kids used a lot of water while they were here.
